Summary
On the rural island of Saiorse, a small community full of superstition one night changed everything for a group of friends. Where there are secrets, there are lies and nothing is ever as it seems.
Emery Blackwood lost her best friend Lily due to unknown circumstances the same night as the local Orchard was set ablaze. Who was the main subject? Emery's boyfriend- August Salt. While he wasn't found guilty due to lack of evidence, in a small community nothing was as it was before.
It's been years since August Salt has been back to Saiorse, but with the death of his mother, there are things that must be settled. When he returns, he still is an unwelcomed sight at least to everyone but Emery.
Together they search to uncover the secrets of the small magical island, but sometimes knowing is worse than just forgetting.
Overall
This was a great read. The pacing at times was slow, but for a book like this, I really felt that it helped set the tone for the town and island. I found Saiorse to be everything that it was intended to be by the author and Adrienne did a fantastic job of really keeping enough details to make me feel like I was inside the town itself.
It is told from multiple points of view, which I LOVE!
Overall, this book was nothing less than great which I have learned to expect from Adrienne Young. It is more on the YA side of things, but that is not a negative- just an opinion.
For those who are fans of her work, I truly recommend this. I think it would be a great read during the fall or winter, when time seems to slow down and you can really enjoy this book.
