"Yeah, some would argue that my agreeing to be his chosen one strips away any say I have over my body, but I see it differently. I see freedom in knowing that I belong to him. Someone who physically wants me." -The Ritual

Summary:

Ryat Archer wants it all. The money, the power, the control. At Barrington University, the Lords get shaped for years in order to become a part of a secret society of those who rule the world. During their senior year as a reward for becoming a full member, they are given a chosen.

Blake just wants freedom- and Ryat offers her that. But is she ready for what she is signing up for? Violence, lies, mystery, and secret societies.... oh and spice galore. Do you have what it takes?

“You serve and obey me. I protect and own you.” - The Ritual

Overall:

Holy trigger warnings. There are so many in this book, that I'm not sure even where to start. (Please see the authors note at the beginning of the book.) This is not a book that will be for everyone.

Blake after being more or less in an arranged relationship that will eventually be a marriage with Matt, finds out that Matt has had a girl on the side all while keeping her Vcard in check. He's shrugged her off, but a party changes everything. She agrees to become Ryat's choosen one. A choosen one is nothing more than a sex doll in real life. And why would some choose this as freedom? Because for most of them they will be put into an arranged marriage and this is as close to freedom as they will have.

This book constantly had something going on from page 1 till the end. I truly think that this book could have easily been a duology. The Ryat we meet vs the Ryat at the end are two different ones. As with most books, the FMC doesn't have much of a personality. I have a problem with most FMC so take that with a grain of salt.

Overall this book was a fantastic Dark Romance Read. But once again, this WILL NOT be a book for everyone. If you shy away from consensual non-consent or rough play, especially if you don't care for any type of dominance you should probably skip this. This is my first read by Shantel Tessier, and I truly do hope to read more.
