My Thoughts

There are so many things that I enjoyed about this book. The first is that the FMC is a 30 something woman that is soft and curvy! Hooray! The next is that the worldbuilding is excellent, and a book that is so well built that it doesn't engulf you and you forget that you are reading. The banter between our MMC and FMC is cute and lovely to read. The build-up is believable and the first time I have seen for (view spoiler), which can sometimes be my least favorite trope.

There are a few problems I have and it's probably simply me so take this all with a grain of salt because at the end of the day I truly enjoyed it. There are a few pacing problems... at times I was completely intrigued... other times I found myself somewhat bored. There is also a switch between some POV. Some POV (a male) is told in 3rd person, and the FMC is told is 1st person and that can be jarring at times. The other problem is I'm a bit confused about the timeline, but because of a fantastic twist at the end, I truly do believe that these problems will make a lot more sense when the second book comes out. Which, I truly do want to read and the cliffhanger- I'm not sure what we did to deserve that, but it absolutely has me wanting the second one... today.

Overall, this was a lighter read and great for when you're just wanting to escape and enjoy a good book while sitting beside a fire or hanging out at the lake.

As always, please read the book yourself if you find it interesting. What is not one person's cup of tea, maybe your exact brand of whiskey.
