Thirst by Carmen Rosales
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
2.5 stars.
This cover and the description of everything about this book made it feel like it was going to be a complete knockout of the park for me. Until it wasn't.
The Good
The story reminds me of a few other dark romances/ dark academia that I have read but there were still elements that were unique and fantastic. The story in and of itself is absolutely amazing. I loved the world that was built and the characters even.
I wanted to know more about these characters and the story! Oh, the story was something that I just needed to know more about. A Gothic "She's All That" is what it reminded me of.
This would have been an absolutely amazing story. However...
The bad
The typos, grammatical errors, and simply some plot holes are just overriding what this story should have been. Now, before you attack me most people know that I rarely ever judge a story based on a few typos or grammatical errors. However, this one was riddled so badly with them that I was actually annoyed by them. There were times when the writing was great and other times when the writing just honestly made my eyes roll.
It was less showing us and a whole lot of "it was like..." sentences. Telling us, instead of showing. There were a few things that happened that were mentioned once or twice, but yet we never saw it in the actual story. It was just passed off as something we should have known.
Overall
Will I read the second one? Yes. I have high hopes that maybe this book will help the second book be more flushed out, and better edited and I am honestly curious about where this story will go. I absolutely think Dravin could be one of my favorite MMC ... if everything above wouldn't have been a problem.
Do I think you should read it? Absolutely! As always, one story may not be someone's cup of tea but it could be your exact band of whiskey.
